My contributions and my goals go hand in hand, because I hope that by the end of my time as a Language Assistant I will have achieved my goals that will in turn become my contributions. In contrast, I believe that the things I have to contribute are also a way in which I form my goals. I consider my strengths (and weaknesses), the learners, and what the overall goal is in order to formulate what my contributions to the LA program can and should be.
Here’s what I have come up with so far as my contributions as a Language Assistant. I have helped to create a stronger sense of excitement around learning English. Beyond just English, though, I think the students have found a general love of teaching as well as learning – or sharing the knowledge they have gained so far (even if it is just sharing their own language with me). I have brought some games to my classes that are aimed at empowering and challenging their language level, as well as their thought processes. I hope to continue contributing to their language skills and the confidence they have in themselves as ESL students, and young members of society.
